
Overview
The number τ (= 2π) "tau" is sometimes regarded as more fundamental than π, and mathematics enthusiasts around the world celebrate June 28th (6/28) as .
This drop in event will be a large-scale experiment to estimate the circle constant by dropping matchsticks on a floor with parallel strips of wood using the solution to Buffon's needle problem.
There will also be pies and other mathematical snacks to enjoy!

The event is open to all and free to attend with no need to book.
Access
This event will take place in the Club Room on the ground floor of our main building which has step free access. There is an accessible toilet located on the first floor of the building which can be accessed by stairs or by lift.
