Newest Honorary Fellows celebrated at Wolfson

Congratulations to Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çFormer Fellow and Honorary Fellow, Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, who was awarded Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) in the 2025 New Year Honours.
"I am deeply honoured by this award and was surprised when the letter arrived in December, thinking it was related to my new role as Chair of Diamond Light Source," said Borys. "However, the award reflects as much on the wonderful people I have worked with at Cancer Research UK, MRC, University of Cambridge, and particularly Â鶹ËÞÉáµçÊÓ¾çCollege. It is even more pleasing to have received this award at the same time as our President has been honoured for her excellent work on drug delivery prior to joining us at Wolfson."
The honours system, presented by or in the name of the reigning monarch, recognises people who have made achievements in public life and have committed themselves to serving and helping the United Kingdom. Borys, who also served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge from 2010-2017, was recognised for his services to cancer research, clinical research, medicine, and charities.
Professor Ijeoma Uchegbu, Wolfson’s seventh President, was also recognised in the 2025 New Year Honours. Check out our news story to read more.
